Father's Day Prayer in 1G

We loved welcoming our dads into our classroom. Together we shared prayer, sang a song, watched a slideshow, listened to a story and gave daddies a gift.

We love our dads xx

Book Week Posers!!

Book Week at MMK

Students enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book character for Book Week and over the following weeks we have enjoyed reading and sharing their favourite stories with the class.

Year One Code Camp

Human Robots was a game where students had to either be the robot or the programmer. The robot had to follow the instructions and listen to the direction and how many steps they had to take. The programmer had to give slow, clear instructions to ensure the robot moved from the start to the finish and if there were any obstacles in the way they also avoided them.
Using the Ipads, we went on the app FOOS and gave the characters in the game directions (either forwards, backwards, up, down, left or right and jump) in sequenced steps prior to movement. If we were correct in our directions our character would collect all of the gems.
Pixel Bots is a game where students share a binary code with their peers and the students shade according to the code. If the code giver and the code listener are successful the pictures should match. Students enjoyed this activity.
Turtle Robots is a game where students had to give simple instructions, one step at a time, in order for the turtle to move to the middle and gather their gem. Students had to plan their steps ahead of time in order to achieve success.
Bee Bots are small programmable robots that can move forwards, backwards, left and right. Students were asked to program the robots movements to each letter of their name. They loved this one the most.
